Lively activities, interactive demonstrations, vibrant stage performances, and an array of food choices await visitors on every Rutgers campus. Events include, but are not limited to storybook readings, puppet shows, scavenger hunts, arts and crafts projects, music, football games, plant sales, animal show, barn tours, science projects.

Rain or shine, Rutgers Day will be open to public from 10 am to 4 pm.  Parking and shuttle buses between campuses are free.

Celebrate Earth Day!

Earth Day 2012 at Liberty State Park

The Hudson County Improvement Authority’s (HCIA) kicks off its Annual Earth Day celebration on April 21st at 10 am, inside the Historic CRRNJ Terminal at Liberty State Park, with a 5K Run and Walk. The day-long event provides an excellent opportunity to learn more about the environment and create a memorable experience for your family, while enjoying the beautiful sky line of New York City. Following the 5K Run/Walk, there will be plenty of family-friendly activities at the "Kids' Kingdom" area, which will include inflatable rides, arts and crafts activities, kite-flying and contests, environment-themed displays, tree seedlings (compliments of the NJDEP's Division of Parks and Forestry), and many other giveaways, along with live stage shows.

Greenberg's Train & Toy Show

Let your child have the opportunity to experience the world of model trains!

Since 1976, Greenberg's Train & Toy Show has been the largest train and toy show in the northeastern United States.

Besides targeting customers with train collection as a hobby, the show also promotes toy trains to even the youngest enthusiast. At most shows, there are trains that kids can ride. Kids can explore huge operating train layouts displays, of which many make real train sounds and some even simulate live steam.

The Greenberg's Train & Toy Show will be held at the New Jersey Convention & Exposition Center on March 31st and April 1st. You can also find the show in DE, MA, MD, NY, PA, andVA.  Click here for more details.

Growing Up Green - Fun for Kids!

Did you want to make your own backyard more inviting for beautiful birds and insects?

NJ Flower & Garden Show

Expect rivers of color and fragrance in beautiful display gardens at the New Jersey Flower & Garden Show, from February 16th through 19th @ the New Jersey Convention & Exposition Center (Edison, NJ)! 

Besides the fabulous display gardens, the garden marketplace, plant sale, and top quality seminars, the Flower and Garden show also hosts the Fun for Kids - Growing Up Green program on February 19th between 11 am and 3 pm. 

The program teaches young kids how to make their own backyard more inviting for beautiful birds and insects, by creating a mini habitat.  Kids will get to take their gardening projects home, and enjoy a wildflower bloom in their backyard this spring!


Tickets: Free for kids under 11 years of age; $6 for children 12 to 17; and $15 for adults ($7.50, if you buy online).

You can also visit the same show at Richmond, VA between February 9th and 12th.

Festive season has gone by and its still winter.  However, spring/summer is not too far away.  Check out Central Jersey's 14 Annual Camp Expo at Princeton, NJ on Saturday, January 28th between 10:00 am and 03:30 pm.

Explore day camps & sleep-aways, along with loads of other children’s vendors, fun entertainment, door prizes, giveaways and interactive sports activities for kids of all ages.  Mom and dad meet face to face with camp owners and directors who will provide information about activities, camp themes, transportation and more.

Admission to the expo is free, but registration is required.
